Variables let you insert project information and model data into your text. Because the text refers to the information instead of repeating it, every specification follows when the information changes.
Insert a project variable
- Select a section.
- Open the Variables tab below the editor.
- Drag a variable from Project Variables into the text.
The editor shows the variable tag, for example {{ PROJECT_NAME }}, instead of the value. Project variables are based on the project information: name, number, client, address and phase. If a value is missing, the variable shows No value.
Link objects to a document
- Open the Variables tab.
- Under Related Objects, click Select Objects.
- Search for and select the types you want. You can see the model, name, category and count for each type.
- Confirm your selection.
The objects are linked to the whole document. To use one in your text, drag it from Related Objects into the text – the same way as a project variable. It can be used in all sections of the document.
💡 You can see which documents an object is used in from the object table. See Spec document information on objects.
Where: HOME / <project name> / Spec / Manage / <document name>
