SPEC lets your team write and manage the project's specifications in the same place as your model data. Before anyone starts writing, set up how the specifications are organised. You do it once, so a large specification set stays consistent.
Note: SPEC is released as a Beta. The core workflow is ready to use, and more functionality will follow.
1. Add Spec to the project (Account Administrators)
SPEC is a module, so it must be added to the project first.
- Go to Account Settings.
- Open the project's context menu and choose Edit Modules.
- Select Spec and save.
Spec now appears in the sidebar with Manage and Configuration. See Getting started as an Account Administrator.
2. Give the right people access (Project Administrators)
Users need a role with access to Spec to write, and access to Configuration to set up the project. See User roles.
3. Choose the specification standard
- Go to Spec → Configuration → Standards.
- Select the standard:
- Molio: Beskrivelsesværktøjet 2.0, for projects in Denmark.
- None: your own document structure, for projects that don't follow Molio.
- Click Save and Close.
Whatever the standard, you can always create your own documents. With Molio, you can also add documents from Molio and import and export .moliospec files.
💡 Choose the standard before anyone starts writing. To change from Molio to None later, you must first remove the Molio documents.
4. Add disciplines, contracts and document types
These values are used to organise and filter documents in Manage Specifications.
- Go to Spec → Configuration and select Disciplines, Contracts or Document Types.
- Click Add, enter a unique name and click Add.
See Setting up Spec for your project.
