Before your team starts working with objects, decide which information they need and who may edit it. You do this in Objects → Configuration by creating properties. Each property becomes a column your team can add to their views in Manage.
Note: You need a role with access to Configuration. If you can't see it, ask your Project Administrator.
1. Choose the right property type
| You want to… | Use | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| Fill in values by hand | Input | Input properties |
| Show a parameter from the model | Model Data | Model Data property |
| Fill in values from a CSV or Excel file, such as a classification table | External Data | External Data properties |
| Count instances, sum values, add running numbers or calculate | Function | Function properties |
| Combine several properties into one value, such as a code | Reference | Reference property |
See Properties in NTI COMANAGE for an overview.
2. Create a property
- Go to Objects → Configuration and click Add Property.
- Choose the property type.
- Choose whether the property applies to Type, Instance or both.
- Fill out the remaining fields and click Add.
💡 Model Data only lists parameters from synchronized models. If the list is empty, synchronize a model first.
3. Decide who can edit the values
For properties that can be edited, select Make property values editable and choose which roles can edit them. Everyone else sees the values as read-only. See Managing Property Edit Permissions.
4. Prepare views for the team (Project Administrators)
Create a project view in Manage with the columns the team needs. Project views are shared with everyone on the project automatically. See Views in the object table.
Optional: push data back to Revit
To write values from NTI COMANAGE into the model, set up Export Settings on the model in Project Home → Models. See Pushing data from COMANAGE to Revit.
💡 Properties and project views can be saved in a project template, so new projects start with the same setup.
Where: HOME / <project name> / OBJECTS / Configuration
