Classifying a project often means looking up codes in a table, typing them into the model one type at a time, and doing it again when the model changes. In NTI COMANAGE, you load the classification table once, pick the code from a list for each type, build the full code automatically and push it back to Revit.
What you need
- A synchronized model. See Add and synchronize models.
- Your classification table as a CSV or Excel file, with the unique code in the far-left column.
1. Load the classification table
- Go to Objects → Configuration and click Add External Data on the External Data card.
- Select the file and click Add.
- Click Add Property, choose External Data, and create a property for each column you need, such as code and description.
2. Build the full code
- Click Add Property and choose Function → Running Number.
- Choose the number of digits, set Distinct By (for example the type name) and Group By your code property. Each type now gets a running number within its code.
- Click Add Property and choose Reference.
- Combine the code and the running number, with free text if needed.
3. Classify the types
- In Manage, create a Types view with your new properties as columns.
- Click a cell in the code column and choose a code from the list. The related columns from the same file are filled in automatically.
- Use filters to find types that are still missing a code.

4. Write the codes back to Revit
- In Project Home → Models, open the model's context menu and choose Export Settings.
- Map the full code to a Revit parameter.
- In Revit, click Synchronize on the Add-Ins ribbon, check the values and click Update.

The result
Every type has a consistent code, built from the same table and stored in the model. When the model changes, you only classify the new types.
