Edit permissions are configured for individual properties in Objects > Configuration. Whether a user can edit a property value depends on the property's settings and the user's assigned role.
Configure Edit Permissions
- Go to Objects > Configuration.
- Click Add Property to create a new property, or open an existing property to edit its settings.
- If the property supports editing, enable Make property values editable.
- Select one or more user roles that should be allowed to edit the property values.
- Save the property.
Only users with one of the selected roles can edit the property values in the object table.
Note: Edit permissions are configured separately for each property. A user may therefore be allowed to edit some properties but not others.
Identify Editable and Read-Only Properties
Go to Objects > Manage to view the properties in the object table.
The column headers indicate whether a property is editable or read-only. Hover over the icon next to the property name to see additional information.
There are two situations in which a property cannot be edited:
1. Read-only properties
Some properties are read-only for all users, regardless of their assigned roles. These properties display a lock icon in the column header. Hovering over the icon displays the tooltip: "This property is read-only"
2. Properties restricted by user role
A property may be configured as editable, but your assigned user role may not have permission to edit its values. These properties display a crossed-tools icon in the column header. Hovering over the icon displays the tooltip: "Your role can't edit this property". Users with the required edit permissions can edit the property values directly in the object table.
