A Source Preset is a saved configuration of Revit categories that you can reuse when synchronizing Revit sources. You can create as many presets as you need—for example, different presets for architecture, MEP, or structural disciplines. This makes your workflow more efficient by allowing you to apply a predefined category setup with just a few clicks.
How to add Source Presets
Only Project Admins can work with Source Presets.
- Click the gear icon in the sidebar to go to the Project Settings section.
- Click Source Presets from the menu.
- Click the Add preset button.
- Fill out the mandatory fields and Save it.
- Your colleagues can now apply the new preset on the Revit files in the Models section before synchronizing.
- All presets are listed in a table and you can rename, duplicate and delete them.
💡 You can add presets to a template.
How to use the presets on specific Revit files
Both project admins and project members can use the presets.
Navigate to the Models section.
Open the context menu (three-dot icon) of a Revit source.
Select Import Settings.
Choose a preset from the dropdown list.
- When you synchronize the source, only the categories from the selected preset will be included.
💡 Using a preset is optional. You can always configure categories manually (ad hoc) and save the setup directly on the source.
You can also start with a preset and then add or remove categories. When changes are made to a preset, the setup will automatically be labeled as "Custom" to reflect that it’s no longer identical to the original preset.
When a preset is changed
💡 Only Project Admins can add, rename and delete presets.
If a preset in use is renamed
The associated sources will continue to use the same category configuration, and the preset name will update automatically to reflect the new name
If a preset in use is deleted
The associated sources will keep the existing category configuration, but the name will automatically change to "Custom" to indicate that the configuration is no longer linked to a specific preset.
